Going Paleo for 30 Days

I completed the 28 Fast Metabolism Diet and did not cheat at all. It was not the most pleasant experience, dieting never is. But I walked away from it 10 lbs. lighter. So to me, it was worth it.

Oh No, Not Again
I then attempted the maintenance stage. However, the scale started tipping in the wrong direction almost immediately. Grrrr.... What is a woman who still has 30 lbs. to go supposed to do? I can tell you for sure it isn't staying on the FMD long term. I did mention it wasn't the best experience for me, right?

Now What?
So I decided to do some self reflection and think about what has helped me with weight loss in the past. Trust me, I am an experienced dieter. And therein lies the problem. I desperately need to get off the diet train. I have no problem losing weight. I also have no problem gaining it all back, plus some.

But one lifestyle change did help me significantly before and didn't feel like a diet - eating Paleo. I pondered that for a few days, switched to 99% …

Switching to an Eat Right 4 Your Type Way of Eating

I got my book Eat Right 4 Your Type yesterday. And what do you know? Soybeans are highly beneficial for my blood type. Reading that took me back to over a decade ago when I used to eat the most delicious spicy bean curds and vegetables at the chinese restauarant that was within walking distance of my apartment.

The Tofu Conundrum
After spending $5 a pop each time I craved that dish, I tried my hand at cooking tofu myself several times.
But it always turned out to be a mushy disaster. However, that was before I had access to the internet. Sooo, I just did some research on how to cook tofu and I came across this dry frying method. I'm looking forward to giving this a try once my fast is over. Also, I plan on mastering some of these chinese dishes. They look delicious!

I Started Off Right
Interestingly enough, a lot of what the book is telling me I have kind of known intuitively for quite some time now. I stopped eating red meat and pork in my early 20s and didn't eat it for almost a decade, until anemia became a huge problem for me while I was pregnant. I always felt better when I didn't eat those types of meats. When I went back to that way of eating I always felt those foods were too heavy for me.

Type A Foods
Well, it turns out that blood type As should avoid all meat except for chicken and turkey. And fish is highly beneficial for me. Baked or microwaved fish have always been good eats to me. And stir fry with plenty of vegetables and fried rice (also with plenty of vegetables) have always been what I order every chance that I get to eat at a Chinese restaurant. So it was no surprise to learn that my diet should consist largely of fruits and vegetables as well.

Back to the Way Things Were
So, as of February 1st I am back to no red meat, no pork, and plenty of fish, fruits and vegetables. I used to eat that way the majority of the time before I got married. I even ate like that for awhile after I was married. But over time it became too much to prepare separate dishes for myself and keep up with several little ones. But now my children are a little older and they can have play time or do some reading while I spend a few extra minutes cooking myself something healthy.

I'm very grateful to God that I learned about this before my fast was over.

How to Clean a Hamilton Beach Juicer

I bought the Hamilton Beach 67650 Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor, and I am so glad I did. Besides being a great juicer, it is not a monster to clean at all! I can say with confidence that as long as you clean it AS SOON AS YOU ARE FINISHED juicing then you won't find clean up challenging. Let me show you how easy it is to clean this juicer.

I try to make sure that I have a clear sink after the last meal is finished. That way, I do not have to spend time having dishes washed when I am ready to juice. I run hot, soapy water in the sink before I begin juicing.

And then I get to juicing.

When I'm done I pour my juice into a glass.
What can I tell you? Big hair = big heart!

I cover the glass with plastic wrap, and set it in the freezer.
I NEVER drink my juice until after I clean my juicer. EVER! I know this will save me the heartache of having to deal with a filthy gunky juicer.

Next, I scrape the pulp into a container for later use, or discard it. I didn't think you'd w…

Christian Weight Loss Bible Study

Today I found a christian weight loss Bible study that I am really excited about. Not only does the course look good, it is also free. It is called The Lord’s Table and the study is from Setting Captives Free Ministries.

Despite the price of the course (which is nothing) you get quite a bit. Each day you are taken through some passages of scripture, you answer some study questions, and a few testimonials are shared with you. You are even assigned a mentor so that you have accountability when going through the christian weight loss Bible study. Your mentor will stay in touch with you weekly and is available to answer any questions that you may have.

Previous Experience
I did use biblical principles once before to lose 65 lbs. and I kept it off for a few years. But then I went to Air Force basic training and my relationship with food got completely out of whack again. Being denied food, forced to scarf down complete meals in 3 minutes, and not being able to eat past 4 pm (e…

Healing Scriptures Online in Audio

Yesterday I started searching online for healing scriptures after hearing a wonderful sermon about feasting on the Word of God. That teaching made me realize that I needed to take stronger action against sickness and infirmities. Thank you God for medicine and for doctors. But the Great Physician already made a way for us to be healed way back at the cross.
Songs About Healing
Initially, I was looking for free songs that I could stream where someone was singing healing scripture. I didn't quite find that. But I did come across a CD by Keith Moore that contains songs about healing. You can download the entire CD for free. Well, I couldn't on my iPad but hopefully you'll be able to on the device that you're using.  But I did stream some of the songs; and, I have no doubt that listening to those over and over will increase your faith.
