Going Paleo for 30 Days

I completed the 28 Fast Metabolism Diet and did not cheat at all. It was not the most pleasant experience, dieting never is. But I walked away from it 10 lbs. lighter. So to me, it was worth it.

Oh No, Not Again
I then attempted the maintenance stage. However, the scale started tipping in the wrong direction almost immediately. Grrrr.... What is a woman who still has 30 lbs. to go supposed to do? I can tell you for sure it isn't staying on the FMD long term. I did mention it wasn't the best experience for me, right?

Now What?
So I decided to do some self reflection and think about what has helped me with weight loss in the past. Trust me, I am an experienced dieter. And therein lies the problem. I desperately need to get off the diet train. I have no problem losing weight. I also have no problem gaining it all back, plus some.

But one lifestyle change did help me significantly before and didn't feel like a diet - eating Paleo. I pondered that for a few days, switched to 99% …

Keeping it Real
I have had to make some modifications to make sure I can realistically accomplishment my goals. For one, I am not attempting to take 10,000 steps every day. That takes over an hour a day and just isn't feasible at this time in my life. So, I am walking for a minimum of 30 minutes a day (roughly 5000 steps)  Monday - Friday; and, I do 30 minutes of cardio - such as step aerobics or Just Dance - on Saturday. Sunday I rest.

Listening to My Body
Healthy eating wise, it was proving very difficult to eat all of the food on the Fast Metabolism Diet (FMD). Since I have started eating whole foods my appetite has actually decreased significantly. So, I am still following the rules as far as what I can eat on which days but I am only eating 3 meals a day and 1 snack. And I am not eating the large portions that the book suggests. And I am OK with that.

Ditching the Daily Readings
The scale hasn't moved much since the first week of  FMD but my jeans are getting looser and looser. And my Honey said he was noticing that I am losing weight. So, that's good enough for me. I am trying to condition myself to only get on the scale once a week to keep my expectations realistic. We shall see how that goes.

Continuing with the Word
I am still going full steam ahead with the Bible reading. No changes there, I fully expect to be completely through the Good Book in 90 days.

Also, I have ditched the effort to try and make a video every day. I am not sure why I thought I would have time for that. I may put up a video here or there. But mainly, as long I keep pursuing my goals I don't think it matters if they are documented daily.

Christian Weight Loss Bible Study

Today I found a christian weight loss Bible study that I am really excited about. Not only does the course look good, it is also free. It is called The Lord’s Table and the study is from Setting Captives Free Ministries.

Despite the price of the course (which is nothing) you get quite a bit. Each day you are taken through some passages of scripture, you answer some study questions, and a few testimonials are shared with you. You are even assigned a mentor so that you have accountability when going through the christian weight loss Bible study. Your mentor will stay in touch with you weekly and is available to answer any questions that you may have.

Previous Experience
I did use biblical principles once before to lose 65 lbs. and I kept it off for a few years. Healing Scriptures Online in Audio

Yesterday I started searching online for healing scriptures after hearing a wonderful sermon about feasting on the Word of God. That teaching made me realize that I needed to take stronger action against sickness and infirmities. Thank you God for medicine and for doctors. But the Great Physician already made a way for us to be healed way back at the cross. 
Songs About Healing
Initially, I was looking for free songs that I could stream where someone was singing healing scripture. I didn't quite find that. But I did come across a CD by Keith Moore that contains songs about healing. You can download the entire CD for free. Well, I couldn't on my iPad but hopefully you'll be able to on the device that you're using.  But I did stream some of the songs; and, I have no doubt that listening to those over and over will increase your faith.
